Ohio City gets some more love today with the opening of Rag Refinery. Leigh Ring, co-proprietor of the former alternative arts Pink Eye Magazine, brings a buy/sell/trade apparel concept shop to 3900 Lorain Avenue. The space also includes Pink Eye Gallery featuring works of local artists.
This evenings grand opening extravaganza is FREE and OPEN to the public. The party includes performances by local bands, and a preview tasting of menu items from Palookaville Chili. PechaKucha Night Cleveland hosts their 11th Session Tonight at the House of Blues. Come see the presentation of fresh ideas from the world of design. The event is FREE and open to the public!

The first PechaKucha Night took place in Tokyo, and is a Japanese word for “the sound of conversation.” The format (now found in 300 cities across the globe) features a succession of 14 “speakers”, each sharing their new design ideas from diverse fields. These rapid-fire, 400 second long presentations (20 slides per presenter X 20 seconds per slide) keep audiences engaged while breaking down barriers between different design communities.

Igenuity Festival 2010 Schedule

Block out your schedule for the entire weekend, because one of Cleveland’s largest and most unique events sets up again this year. After last year’s pilot run in the Bridge Project, the folks at Ingenuity have moved the festival from Playhouse Square to the abandoned streetcar level of the Detroit-Superior Bridge. Hundreds (perhaps thousands) of people make this event possible and feature a combination of regional and national musical acts, art installations, technology displays, exhibits and more. The event is FREE and open to all ages.

David Jennings, a recent alumnus of Cleveland State University in digital and media studies, released a video reel of cityscape scenes shot in Cleveland. It reveals a rather desolate side of the city, but it is beautiful nonetheless. Enjoy!
