Zaller Gallery (16006 Waterloo) has curated a litany of Cleveland’s finest alternative artists for an anti-valentines day show tonight complete with edgy live music acts Leah Lou,  Leia Von Hohenfeld and Her Magical Music Box, Mr. California and the Smoldering Butt Bitches. Still more happening tonight in the neighborhood as part of record store ghetto strip extravaganza that is the Walk all Over Waterloo Valentines Edition. 

The Waterloo Alley Cat Project fundraiser is just one of a billion things happening this weekend for the Walk All Over Waterloo Valentines Edition. Check it out at the Beachland from 7-9 PM with local legends Rainy Day Saints and up-and-coming bands Filmstrip and Prisoners. There is plenty of stuff happening in the neighborhood at Arts Collinwood, Music Saves, Blue Arrow Records, and more so stick around.

Ohio City gets some more love today with the opening of Rag Refinery. Leigh Ring, co-proprietor of the former alternative arts Pink Eye Magazine, brings a buy/sell/trade apparel concept shop to 3900 Lorain Avenue. Having been inspired by such shops while living in San Fransisco, Ring saw an opportunity to bring a similar vintage experience to Cleveland. The space also includes Pink Eye Gallery featuring works of local artists.

This evenings grand opening extravaganza is FREE and OPEN to the public. The party includes performances by local bands, and a preview tasting of menu items from Palookaville Chili. Palookaville will open soon next door to the Rag Refinery by Leigh Ring’s former Pink Eye Magazine partner and artist, Ian P.E..     

Survival Kit is one of Cleveland’s newest and coolest art galleries. It doubles as an alternative event space, and they’re setting up their first ever “Fourth Coast Pop Up Market” pop up market tonight. Limited edition local art, vintage clothing, records and more. Survival Kit is located in the 78th Street Studios Complex at 1305 W 80th Ste 3C. Browse the goods tonight until 11 PM, and tomorrow 12-6 PM.

The Beachland Ballroom hosts a “New Wave Rave” themed dance party tonight. Put on your mod threads, and bring a sardonic attitude, aggressive energy, and $3 to Cleveland’s landmark music institution on Waterloo. With the help of some stellar local DJs, you should have no trouble getting down like its 1983.

Walk All Over Waterloo events now happen every weekend this Holiday Season, and are packed with special happenings at neighborhood businesses. Rock and Roll Flea Markets come to the Beachland Ballroom, the Native Cleveland shop opens to the public, Music Saves offers a 10% discount, and more!

(Happening on the other side of the river today) Ohio City taps into its German roots with the first annual Christmas Festival all day today. Modeled after a traditional Weihnachtsmarkt, individual outdoor stands sell Christmas ornaments, nuts, candy and specialty gifts. Holiday decorations and snowflake lights return to West 25th street after more than 40 years!

Check out Suite 305 at the Left Bank Building (1250 Riverbed St.) tonight for cash and carry art show. Featured contemporary Cleveland artists include Robin Latkovich, Vanessa LaValle and Wes Johansen. A multitude of art books are for sale, and Johansen will be dishing up some complimentary “fusion” tacos and other assorted appetizers. DJ Jose A. Luna will be playing dance party music. The event is FREE and BYOB.

The Cavs v. Heat are on tonight, but so is this awesome Rock and Roll tonight at the Beachland. Cleveland’s Very Knees and Founding Fathers play with the Sights from Detroit. Check out their post modern madness and infectious vibe at 9:30 PM in the Beachland’s Tavern. $5
